This is a 45 cm x 45cm x 30 cm footstool. The scene depicted in applique and freemotion embroidery is of 3 highland cows taking a dip in the sea . Not an unusual occurance in the western isles . It is stitched onto a backing of heavyweight fire retardant calico. 
The legs are handpainted 
 
The fabric is extremely hard wearing and it can be safely used as a footstool without risk of damage to the artwork ( just take your shoes off first ! ) 
 
This is a one off piece and the design will not ever be repeated exactly as seen here.
